Hoboken PATH Station Reopens To Commuters
By Katie Colaneri, WBGO News
Hoboken. December 19, 2012
The Hoboken PATH station reopened this morning with trains running to 33rd Street. While many commuters are relieved, it’s clear things still aren’t back to normal for everyone.
Commuters like Claudia Perez say they’re looking forward to a cheaper and more reliable commute. Perez has had to get up an hour earlier to take a bus and two subway trains to her job on Wall Street. She says she’s relieved.
“It gives us a sense of normal again.”
But service to the World Trade Center is still suspended, and the Port Authority says it’ll still be “weeks” before 24-hour service is restored.
That means more cost to commuters who work second and third shifts… and more uncertainty for local businesses that rely on the PATH foot traffic.
