Hiring our Heroes Comes to NYC

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched a program with a goal of helping half a million veterans find a job in the next 2 years.
In just over a year, Hiring our Heroes helped nearly ten-thousand veterans and military spouses get jobs. Executive Producer Kevin Schmiegel says how one of the things they do is provide workshops.
"Men and women who are 20, 21 years old are going around the world representing our country. They are our ambassadors of this nation. They need to talk about that and develop their own personal brand."
Schmiegel says they only bring in employers who are actively looking for veterans. Every fair brings many success stories, but one woman's accomplishment sticks with Schmiegel the most.
"I had actually thought about what the next step would be because I was just exhausted. And this woman in her mid-fifties had come up to me and she was very emotional. And she said our program had changed her life"
Hiring our Heroes is pairing with another group, Veterans on Wall Street, for this week's job fair in New York City.
The job fair runs on Thursday at Deutsche Bank on 60 Wall Street from 9 AM to 1 PM.
