The James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival keeps rolling on with a matinee performance by the Greg Gisbert Quintet.
The lunchtime performance in downtown Newark is part of the week long jazz festival honoring James Moody. Band leader Greg Gisbert says they are happy to be honoring their friend and mentor.
“All of us on the band we all played with Moody, and we all loved Moody, and he helped us in ways that words couldn’t possibly describe so we’re here to celebrate the life and the gift and the message that James Moody shared with us.”
Moody’s Widow Linda was also on hand to enjoy the concert and was even serenaded by Gisbert .
