Governor Christie has declared this week New Jersey School Choice Week.

The proclamation signed by the governor makes New Jersey one of 20 states taking part in the nationwide education reform initiative. Andrew Campanella is president of National School Choice Week. He says the campaign sheds light on the need for school choice as part of overall education reform.

“When you have robust school choice and parents have a menu of options from public schools, to charters, to magnets, to private schools, online learning, and homeschooling, what you’ll see is that parents will flock to schools that are great and the schools that aren’t great will be forced to improve in order to keep students there.”

Controversy surrounding school choice continues to swirl, including the heavily debated school voucher system.
