G.I.Go Fund And The City Of Newark Host 5th Annual Veterans Job Fair At Rutgers Newark
By Alexandra Hill, WBGO News
March 18, 2013
Unemployed veterans from all over New Jersey came to Rutgers Newark today looking for a job.
“I believe actually that I’m actually already hired at one job.”
Army veteran Larry Bess is one of more than 500 people who showed up hoping to find work. More than 70 businesses and social service organizations were on hand. Jack Fanous is Executive Director of the G.I. Go Fund, and one of the event’s organizers.
“They smashed their lives on the ground, and said ill break it all up ill serve overseas ill do what has to be done to take care of you guys and now when they come home putting all of those pieces back together is incredibly difficult and that’s what this fair is all about.”
Fanous says the number of unemployed veterans has gone up this year due to Sandy and the recent cuts resulting from sequestration.
