The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through tomorrow night into Saturday morning. So just how much more of this heavy rain can we take?

Dave Robinson is New Jersey State Climatologist at Rutgers. He says heightened awareness of flooding at this point is crucial.

“The risk of flooding is pretty high, both from the short term flash flooding and some river flooding simply because we’ve been so wet of late. We’ve already had well over a June’s worth of rainfall. The ground is soaked the rivers are high, so it doesn’t take a lot of rain to get the flooding renewing itself.”

Robinson says there is another storm that may bring some more heavy rains early next week and says they are concerned about the area’s main rivers and just how much more water they can handle.
