FEMA Office Now Open In Newark
By Alexandra Hill, WBGO News
November 13, 2012
FEMA has set up an office in Newark and is taking applications for disaster relief they want local residents to know they are here to help.
Newark residents now have a place to get the information and assistance they need in a process that can often be overwhelming and confusing. Since opening, the location has registered people in need of temporary shelter, repairs to their damaged homes, and other housing-related issues. FEMA spokesman Alberto Pillot says they are here to help with any situation.
“Register with FEMA there are programs to get you immediate shelter, either by their transitional shelter program or immediate rental assistance, but we have to identify those families, if they don’t register we don’t know.”
The deadline to register with FEMA is December 31st, but Pillot says they will be here as long as the city needs their help.
The office is located at 555 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Newark.
Office Hours: 8am-8pm
