Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo is reaching across party lines to officially endorse Governor Christie for re-election.
DiVincenzo , one of the state’s most influential democrats , made his announcement accompanied by several local democratic mayor’s and pastors from various churches in Newark and Irvington. DiVincenzo says its Governor Christie’s bipartisan work ethic that is the reason for his endorsement.
“I think this is the first time in history that this has ever happened where a county exec has come out for someone of the other party, but it’s the right decision. I have 800,000 people that live here and they’re used to me getting things done, they’re democrats, they’re republicans, they’re independents and that’s what I’m gonna continue to do is to work.”
DiVincenzo says despite Christie only receiving 27 percent of the Essex County vote in his first election, he never let that affect his willingness to get things done for the county.
