The latest celebrity to come to Newark’s aid is Actor/Comedian Kevin Hart. He greeted residents recovering from Sandy with donations and smiles.
From Mark Zuckerburg’s 100 million dollar grant to the Newark Public Schools, to Jon Bon Jovi’s generous donations for housing for people with special needs, celebrities have a long history of being there for Newark. Hurricane Sandy relief is no exception. 2012 BET Award winner Kevin Hart not only gave his money but some comic relief to storm-battered city residents. Hart says he has seen firsthand how the city has been affected.
“As an individual I care and not only do I care but I want to help, and you know it lifts spirits, and at this time that’s what you want to do, you want to lift spirits.”
Newark has always been a frequent tour stop for Hart, and he says he wanted to give back to the city that has always embraced him.
