After dropping out of the race for Mayor just a few months ago Councilman Darrin Sharif suffered yet another tough defeat in last night’s runoff race for Newark’s central ward council seat.

Sharif, who ran against the Baraka backed former city councilwoman Gayle Chaneyfield- Jenkins, says he hopes to help the new administration make a smooth transition.

“Our city’s going to go through some difficult times you know people know about our budget situation and like I said if I can offer any help to just to brief her on the things that we’re involved in over the four years, then I’m happy to do so.”

Sharif says it has been the privilege of his career to represent the residents of the city’s central ward.
