More than 200 girls in Newark got to have “Girl Talk” with a reality TV star.

The daughter of Run DMC’s “Rev Run,” Angela Simmons, says the purpose of the full day of yoga, manicures and fashion shows at the Boys and Girls Club of Newark, is to expose young ladies to life lessons that they might not have learned from the people around them.

Vice President of operations at the Boys and Girls Club of Newark, Cynthia M. Banks, says the event shows young women the importance of community involvement.

The program is being developed to serve as a national model for Boys and Girls Clubs of America and other community organizations serving at-risk youth to follow.
