Bergen County authorities have formed a new task force that will focus specifically on school security.

The school security assessment task force will bring together local police departments, school administrators, and the county prosecutor’s risk mitigation planner. They will take a look at every school that asks for a review using homeland security safety guidelines. John Molinelli is the Bergen County Prosecutor.

“We’re actually, on more of a permanent basis bringing together law enforcement and the local districts so that we’re not just talking about it in response to a tragedy such as what occurred in Connecticut we’ll now have a permanent model where it becomes an open and comprehensive dialogue that takes place each year.”

Molinelli says after receiving so many requests from school districts following the Newtown Connecticut shootings, he felt it was time to take action.
