After the second mass shooting in recent weeks, a group of local elected leaders is renewing its push for tighter restrictions on the sale of bullets.

One bill would effectively ban the sale of ammunition to the public online… and another would prevent civilians from buying magazine clips with more than 10 rounds.

Senator Bob Menendez says it’s just common sense.

“Guns fine, second amendment rights, ok, but let’s be reasonable about what is acceptable and what is beyond all reason in protecting second amendment rights…”

Senator Frank Lautenberg fired back at Governor Christie for accusing them of grandstanding in the wake of the Colorado shooting last month.

“When is the time to take up an issue like this, when it’s a little bit into the background, not thinking about it?”

Lautenberg and Menendez say these incidents should be a wake-up call to politicians on both sides of the aisle.

The NRA has not returned calls for comment.
