Factory Orders Edge Up; New Jobless Claims Fall
Orders to U.S. factories managed a slight gain in July, boosted by as a surge in demand for commercial aircraft. A separate report said productivity in the spring fell by the largest amount in nearly four years, signaling that companies may have reached the limits of squeezing more work out of fewer workers.
