MUNICIPAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS NOW EASY TO FIND ON ELECTION COMMISSION SITE WBGO News via RSS
Trenton - (WBGO News 11/16/2009)
New Jersey residents can now use the Internet to easily search for campaign donations received by municipal candidates.
Until now, only contributions made to state candidates and state and county party committees were available on the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission website.
The Commission’s Executive Director, Jeff Brindle, says the more than $5.5 million donated to fundraising committees in the spring Primary campaign can now be searched electronically by donor and by candidate.
“Importantly. more complete disclosure of municipal and county donations will enhance enforcement of pay-to-play laws, laws that are intendedto discourage of undue influence by public contractors.”
Brindle says the more than $11 million in general election funding will be available to search on the Commission’s website by the end of March.
