Alexandra Ortiz joined WBGO in April 2007 as a contributing reporter. Before joining Jazz 88.3 she worked for WSUS-FM, WNNJ-FM, WNNJ-AM and WHCY-FM covering New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. She anchored the morning and afternoon newscasts for these stations and was later promoted to News Director. Previously, she anchored the afternoon news at WRNJ-AM in Hackettstown, NJ where she also hosted a daily hour long news and information show.
Before landing her first job in radio, she spent a summer interning at the assignment desk at WABC-TV in New York and WRNJ-AM.
Alexandra was born in Passaic and later raised in Warren County. She attended Montclair State University where she received her B.A. in Broadcasting/Journalism.
Alexandra believes news radio attracts an intelligent audience, one who looks to be informed even while on the go. Her other passions include politics, history, immigration and international women's rights. She loves to travel and discover new places and takes on every opportunity to do so. In her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her family. She can often be found with her husband working on their home in Parsippany.
Alexandra's stories can be heard regularly during the morning and afternoon WBGO newscasts.
