Drummer and bandleader Michael Carvin has energy and then some. His ability to rhythmically drive any song is apparent the moment you listen to the first track on his new CD, Marsalis Music Honors Series: Michael Carvin. We'll get to see that energy come alive on stage when Michael Carvin performs live at J&R Music World on Tuesday, April 18th for our live broadcast at 12:30 p.m.

Michael Carvin has shared the stage with some of jazz music's most legendary performers. Among them are Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, and Hampton Hawes. It's also a great nod to Michael's "master drummer" status that his new record is on the Marsalis Music label, owned and operated by sax great Branford Marsalis. Marsalis was quick to recognize Carvin's passion for the music, and added only two artists to Marsalis Music label this year - Michael Carvin and iconic jazz drummer Jimmy Cobb. Michael Carvin's notoriety as a drum instructor is as significant as his performance career. Students from the world over flock to New York to take part in the Michael Carvin School for Drumming.
