Event Description

The Newark Museum is kicking off the new season of its Jazz in the Garden lunchime concert season with a performance by Mark Gross on Thursday, July 12 from 12:15-1:45 pm. Attendees are welcome to bring luch or purchase it onsite. Admission is free for Museum Members and Newark residents; $5 for non-members. Performance will be held indoors in the event of inclement weather. Baltimore-born jazz alto saxophonist Gross, who comes from the hard bop tradition, has been compared to Cannonball Adderley and credits his prolific sound to the rich appreciation for Gospel music that resounded through his parents’ home. Gross has recorded on over forty notable jazz recordings, including the two Grammy winning Dave Holland Big Bands-What Goes Around (ECM) and Overtime (Dare 2 Records).
