Add new comment | Filed under: NewsWord from Keith Spera from the Times-Picayune in New Orleans - Fird "Snooks" Eaglin has died. He was 72. For those of you who don't know Snooks, he was a pistol. And a hellified guitar strummer and singer. I'll never forgot those pledge drives on WWOZ - partying in the studio during Billy Delle's Records From the Crypt, phones ringing off the hook, and the money just rolling in. Music and entertainment from Allen Toussaint, Ernie K-Doe, and Snooks, who got funnier and funnier as the night wore on. Of course, he was always drinking that electric lemonade! Who could forget the number when Snooks kept on singing - "5-6-8, 1-2-3-4." I'll miss you, Snooks.
