If you've tuned into WBGO between 6 and 10 a.m. over the past 22 years, you've probably heard Gary Walker telling it like it is -- a gig he still enjoys getting up early for every weekday morning.

But did you know that, in addition to his role as the host of Morning Jazz, Gary also manages the WBGO music library? Each week, the WBGO Blog will post Gary's list of new additions to the music shelf, along with a few of his favorite new CDs from the bunch.

Come back every week for more about the freshest new music that we are featuring on the air. Click the links to purchase the album -- when you do, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to WBGO.

First, Gary's best of the week:

The Mason Brothers, "Two Sides One Story"(pictured)

English brothers Brad (trumpet/flugelhorn) and Elliot (trombone & bass trumpet) Mason have many musical sides to their story. Their release of original tunes plays out quite nicely with the help of folks like pianist David Kikoski, drummer Antonio Sanchez, saxophonist Chris Potter, Scott Colley on bass, guitarist Tim Miller and vibist Joe Locke. Buy the album here.

Rachel Z, Omar Hakim & Maeve Royce, "The Trio of Oz"

An off-road, yellow-brick trip using the music of Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Death Cab For Cutie and other unlikely vehicles for a fresh swinging listen to the jazz trio interplay. Buy the album here.

Marcus Printup, "A Time For Love"

Trumpeter Marcus Printup comes to the show with a new trio effort featuring bassist Kengo Nakamura and Printup's wife Riza, an accomplished classical harpist. They offer gorgeous interpretations of tunes by Kenny Dorham, Benny Golson, Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock and Richard Rodgers. Marcus is a beautiful player and shows it very nicely here.
