Today on WBGO:
- At 6:30 p.m. on The Checkout, host Josh Jackson presents highlights from our series of live broadcasts from the Village Vanguard, and a farewell to a Vanguard regular, drummer Paul Motian.
- At 7:30 p.m. on Latino USA, host Maria Hinojosa and contributors review memories of Navidades in the distant and not-so-distant past, and what the holidays brought for their families and themselves.
- On our blog, WBGO says goodbye to trombonist Bob Brookmeyer, who passed away last Thursday, three days shy of his 82nd birthday, with a highlight from a 1986 performance by Brookmeyer with trumpeter Clark Terry and the Tommy Flanagan Trio.
- Toast of the Nation, NPR’s coast-to-coast New Year’s Eve jazz party, will be back this year, and yes, it’s produced right here at WBGO! Join us for live performances by the Julian Lage Trio, Wynton Marsalis, and much more.
