In the last few decades, June has become the busiest month for jazz in New York City, home to the biggest jazz scene in the world. But who is actually going to all these shows? A small team of Bloggers Supreme has been attending the festivities -- primarily, the CareFusion Jazz Festival New York. In between our reports on various goings-on, we'll be talking to the some of the people who are actually in the audience. We start off every conversation with the simple question: how did you hear about this show? And be sure to check out more of our Meet The Jazz Audience series. --Ed.

    Mike Camacho, 17
    Performer: The Jazz Gallery All-Stars
Venue: Symphony Space (Upper West Side)
Event: CareFusion Jazz Festival New York
    Date: Jun. 18, 2010

How did you find out about this concert? I was on the Jazz Gallery website, and I saw the lineup. I really had to come.

What did you think of the show? My mind is blown just seeing the respect of all the musicians on the stage. You could tell they really liked what each other was adding. The directions they would go in ... you could tell were all on board for the music. There were no egos. It was really amazing to see this many stars together on one stage. They're stars to me.

I saw [drummer] Kendrick Scott one night at Lincoln Center and that turned me on to all these young guys. I just wanted to see what all the young guys had to put into this music.

How did you get into jazz? My drum teacher got me into jazz. He played me a Paul Desmond record called Take Ten. And that was really the moment where I knew I loved jazz.
