When the folks at New York's largest holiday festival, Winter's Eve, asked WBGO who we would recommend to perform at the American Folk Art Museum during the November 26th event, Marcus Strickland came immediately to mind. WBGO has featured Strickland as a band leader and in performances where he was a sideman.

In 2008, Strickland came into WBGO for a studio session and interview with Josh Jackson which was featured on NPR Music.

Last year, the saxophonist made several appearances on WBGO, from an interview with Rhonda Hamilton, to two performances on The Checkout (as a leader and as a sideman) and two views of his performance with Jeff "Tain" Watts group on the Detroit Jazz Festival (on The Checkout and also JazzSet).

Marcus Strickland will perform on Winter’s Eve at the American Folk Art Museum where you can visit with WBGO Jazz 88.3 and take in the museum’s latest exhibits, Ooh Shiny! and Foiled: Tinsel Painting in America.

Location: American Folk Art Museum – Columbus Avenue between 65th and 66th Streets
    Time: 6:45pm & 7:45pm
