Aimée, of French and Dominican heritage, visited the WBGO studios on Monday and spoke with Rhonda Hamilton about her approach to music and growing up in the Gypsy jazz hotbed of Samois-sur-Seine, France.

Smith is a finalist in the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, whose finals will be held on Sunday, October 21 at 3 p.m. at the New Jersey Performance Arts Center in Newark.
The competition is the final event of the inaugural James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival, co-presented by NJPAC and WBGO-FM.
