WBGO Congratulates "Sassy" Award Winner Cyrille Aimee

Aimée, of French and Dominican heritage, visited the WBGO studios on Monday and spoke with Rhonda Hamilton about her approach to music and growing up in the Gypsy jazz hotbed of Samois-sur-Seine, France.
Hamilton hosted Sunday's concert, and you can listen to her interviews with finalists Alexis Cole, Hilary Kole, Sandra Booker and Monifa Brown's interview with finalist Ashleigh Smith, - as well as Gary Walker's conversation with the producer of the competition, Larry Rosen, right here on the WBGO blog. Smith is a finalist in the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, whose finals will be held on Sunday, October 21 at 3 p.m. at the New Jersey Performance Arts Center in Newark.
The competition is the final event of the inaugural James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival, co-presented by NJPAC and WBGO-FM.
