- At 6:30 p.m. on Piano Jazz, guitarist Julian Lage shows off his amazing technique and improvisation on "My Funny Valentine" and teams up with host Marian McPartland on "You and the Night and the Music."
- At 9 p.m., Awilda Rivera interviews trumpeter Jerry Gonzalez about his show on Saturday in Newark at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and his love for bebop, Latin jazz and Spanish music.
- WBGO's Champions of Jazz Benefit on November 2 will honor Jimmy Heath and Tommy LiPuma, with performances by Natalie Cole, Roy Hargrove, Joe Lovano, Russell Malone, Lizz Wright, and much more. Click here for details and to buy tickets to this event.
Join us on Friday, November 4 for a free members event starting at 6 p.m. on the Rutgers-Newark campus: tour the Institute of Jazz Studies, see the Louis Armstrong exhibit, and enjoy the film In Good Time: The Piano Jazz of Marian McPartland.
- On Saturday at 12:30 p.m., join us at the Newark Museum for free jazz for kids as trumpet player Marcus Printup presents a program which demonstrates the many emotions that can be expressed while playing jazz.
