The MSM Chamber Jazz Ensemble performed live at WBGO in our seventh broadcast for Jazz Appreciation Month. Click to hear audio from this concert, and at the bottom of the page for all of our 2013 JAM Student Festival broadcasts.

The group, directed by Justin DiCioccio, is Patrick Bartley on alto saxophone, Jonathan Ragonese on tenor saxophone, Leo Pellegrino on baritone saxophone, Ben Benack on trumpet, Emmet Cohen on piano, Jeff Koch on bass, Jake Goldbas on drums. They performed a recreation of saxophonist Oliver Nelson’s 1961 album Blues and the Abstract Truth. A full set list and more details are below.

The New School For Jazz Improv Ensemble performed live at WBGO in the sixth in our series of student broadcasts for Jazz Appreciation Month. Click to hear audio from this concert, and at the bottom of the page for all of our 2013 JAM Student Festival broadcasts.

The group, directed by bassist Reggie Workman, is Jordan Carrington on piano, Albert Baliwas on alto sax, Devin Starks on bass, Benjamin Katz on tenor sax, Francesco Alessi on drums and Sam Neufeld on trumpet. They played original compositions and others by Charles Mingus and Tina Brooks. A full set list is below.
