  • WBGO wins award from UUCP

October 29, 2009. Posted by Brandy Wood.

This past Friday evening, WBGO was celebrated via a jazz concert--featuring a student ensemble from William Paterson University and the Calvin Hill Trio (featuring Michael Cochrane on piano)--by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Palisades in Teaneck, New Jersey.  The church supports jazz and features a regular jazz concert series at the Puffin Cultural Center, also in Teaneck.

In addition to bestowing a plaque to the station which read: ”The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Palisades congratulates WBGO, the jazz source for 30 years. An outstanding contribution to the advancement of jazz,” the church, in concert with the Puffin Cultural Center, made a donation to WBGO! The appreciation for the station that emanated from the room was quite powerful.  WBGO President and CEO Cephas Bowles was on hand to receive the award and extended thanks on behalf of the staff and Board of Trustees.
