Welcome to the WBGO Family! Being a volunteer at WBGO Jazz88 is a great way to learn more about jazz, make new friends and connect with the community we serve.

A successful volunteer understands and believes in our mission. The work that you will do is invaluable and enables WBGO to provide its programming and outreach services to listeners throughout the northern New Jersey/New York City metropolitan area. Volunteers are expected to abide by Newark Public Radio, Inc. –WBGO Jazz88 policies and rules just as employees.

Volunteer Opportunities
Appropriate attire is required – Business Casual

Administrative Support
Support needed in several departments.
Work assignments and time usually Monday through Friday during regular business hours – 9am – 5pm.
Requests based on project-by-project needs.

Membership Mailing
Assist Membership with stuffing envelopes to prepare for mailing of membership cards and other
Membership information.

Phone Operators - Fund Drives
Must be 18 or older
Phone Drives – 3 times yearly – January/May/September
Must complete orientation prior to participating

    Qualifications
  • Strong understanding and support of the mission and vision of WBGO
  • Organized, energetic, detail orientated
  • Computer savvy
  • Excellent Communicator

Events Assistants

    Qualifications
  • Strong understanding and support of the mission and vision of WBGO
  • Customer Service and positive communicating skills
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, possibly crowded environment
  • Must be reliable, respectful and attentive
  • Must be punctual
    Responsibilities
  • Must have knowledge about materials on the Marketing/Membership table and be able to discuss them with listeners
  • Understand the procedure for signing up new members, and renewing memberships
  • Must know the different functions of the sign-up sheets and be able to discuss what people are signing up for (membership etc.)
  • Have knowledge of basic WBGO information: address, website, hosts and shows, etc.
